A bariatric person is defined as someone who has limitations to their health and social care due to their weight, size, shape and/or mobility. They will also have a Body Mass Index of greater than 40kg/m² or are 40kg above their ideal weight to height (as defined by NICE).

This policy supports you to demonstrate that you recognise the complexities associated with the management, care and safety of bariatric service users in the prehospital setting. It also assists you in making sure team members at your company will ensure that service user’s emotional, physical and mental wellbeing are always prioritised while in their care.
