It is usually expected that patients will attend the practice for their care, but as a part of the General Medical Services (GMS) contract, based upon The National Health Service (General Medical Services Contracts) Regulations 2015, GP practices are required to offer home visits as an alternative for patients unable to attend the practice premises. This is dependent upon clinical need where it would be considered inappropriate for the patient to attend the practice and is at the discretion of the GP.
